HVAC Technician II - Pipe Insulator

The George Mason University, Facilities Department is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for a Pipe Insulator. Responsibilities: Under limited supervision, the employee performs journey level insulation work on University HVAC systems and equipment. This work includes the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair as required. Work is done using necessary hand tools and insulating equipment. Employee surveys insulation on HVAC systems to determine needs and initiates repairs as directed by supervisor.

Performs miscellaneous duties as required, such as cleaning and painting the equipment and mechanical areas. Insulates valves, piping, duct work, and other components as needed. Picks up materials from suppliers when requested. Inspects areas and reports problems to supervisor. Maintains paperwork, including work orders. Orders material from supervisor in an expedient manner.

Required Qualifications: * Valid Driver's License * High school graduation or equivalent * Significant progressively more responsible HVAC experience, specifically insulation installations and repair (a few years preferred).

Preferred Qualifications: * Completion of, or ongoing participation in, an acceptable apprentice-level HVAC training program. * Significant years of experience with commercial HVAC systems. * HVAC Journeyman license
