The Volgenau School of Engineering (VSE), Office of the Dean, at George Mason University seeks an individual with exceptional financial acumen and analytical skills to the join the finance team as a financial analyst. Responsibilities: As part of its VSE finance team, the financial analyst will assist the Director of Finance in the management of financial resources to the maximum and best use for the school and to ensure compliance with all state and university policies and procedures.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to: * Monitoring financial activities to ensure that they meet planned expenditures, in accordance with state and university policies and procedures. Performing personnel and financial transactions such as reallocations, journal vouchers, and budget transfers using university processes to ensure charges are made to appropriate accounts and organizations. * Assisting the Director of Finance with generation of monthly financial reports for both VSE as a whole as well as the departments and multidisciplinary programs. Reviewing the monthly financial reports and providing financial analysis on drivers of variances to budget. * Performing reconciliations on assigned organizations under the dean's administrative office and ensuring that any corrective actions are taken in a timely manner. * Acting as liaison to school administrative staff on all purchasing, travel, accounting, and reconciliations policies and procedures. Reviewing VSE purchases, including credit card purchase, for adherence to appropriate commonwealth and university policies and procedures. Conducting training as necessary for new employees on fiscal systems and procedures. * Working with the Financial Administrative Systems Team to create new organizational codes and approve VSE employee access requests. * Assisting in providing information and responding to all outside surveys and other information requested by school or university administrators. Working with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning to obtain information needed and completes online surveys. Serving as the point-of-contact with outside agencies for questions and problems with surveys.

Required Qualifications: * A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Experience with financial processes to include purchase requisitions, account and department reconciliations, financial reporting, and budget variance analysis; * Ability to manage multiple projects within a fast paced environment; * Strong written and verbal communication skills; * Strong organizational and financial skills; * Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population; * Proficient in Microsoft Office products to include Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of university fiscal policies and procedures; * Experience with Banner, eVA and Microstrategy; * Experience conducting ad hoc financial analysis and working with large amounts of data
