Saint John the Evangelist School, located in Severna Park, MD, has an immediate opening for a grade 3-5 math and science teacher The successful candidate must hold a current Maryland State Teaching Certificate and have experience working with elementary students. Job Responsibilities: Implement lesson plans utilizing a variety of techniques to motivate, challenge and engage students Plan and execute instructional programs that adhere to both district and school-wide goals Create an instructional environment conducive to learning Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic and timely manner Communicate standards, achievements and deficiencies to students and parents through email, phone calls, conferences, and an electronic grade books on a weekly basis Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church Safely and actively supervise students both inside and outside of the classroom Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration Expertly integrate iPad and SmartBoard technology into a 21st Century classroom Meet the needs, interests and abilities of students Attend all faculty meetings, professional development, grade level and curriculum meetings Attend graduation and other "after hour" activities as requested Serve on various committees Perform various non-teaching related duties such as recess, lunch, carline, etc. Qualifications: Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education Experience in a Catholic School setting is preferred Knowledge of principles and practices of pedagogy Knowledge of curriculum Knowledge of instructional materials and equipment Ability to properly maintain confidential information
