Summary

The Engineering Directorate, Aeronautics Systems Engineering Branch (Code D201), is seeking an individual to serve as an Electronics Engineering Technician to be responsible for the development, test, fabrication, integration, and maintenance of prototype and flight electronic/electrical systems to support Agency programs and goals.

Responsibilities

  • This developmental position has been established to allow greater flexibility in recruitment and provide for increasingly broad and complex assignments in order to gain knowledge and experience required at the full-performance level for the position.
  • The duties described below are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
  • You will develop novel research instruments, test devices, or prototype components with difficult performance requirements or where techniques or components differ.
  • You will be involved with the development of new equipment or systems, simplification and improvement of present equipment, etc.
  • You will design, develop, implement, and maintain systems; assess their effectiveness; evaluate feasibility of new systems and services; and provide guidance on complex development issues.
  • You will design, develop, and integrate systems and components to support research.
  • You will analyze unsatisfactory characteristics of items and relevant complex data collected during research, development, and testing processes.
  • You will be recognized as a technical expert in the application and development of electronic and micro-electronic technologies.
  • You will design, fabricate, and integrate electronics circuits and assemblies.
  • You will design circuits using Computer-aided Design (CAD) software to layout and design artwork; specialized test and automation software, etc.

Qualifications

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.

To qualify for GS-7: Specialized experience at the GS-6 level includes: Assists senior technicians in the routine repair and checkout of electrical; mechanical; pneumatic; hydraulic; or electronic components, assemblies, and devices that require only limited or minor adjustments and where problem analysis is repetitive.

To qualify for GS-8: Specialized experience at the GS-7 level includes: Works with senior technicians in the repair and checkout of electrical; mechanical; pneumatic; hydraulic; or electronic components, assemblies, and devices that require only limited or minor adjustments and where problem analysis is repetitive.

To qualify for GS-9: Specialized experience at the GS-8 level includes: Independently accomplishes technical work of limited complexity in the repair and checkout of electrical; mechanical; pneumatic; hydraulic; or electronic components, assemblies, and devices.

To qualify for GS-10: Specialized experience at the GS-9 level includes: Independently accomplishes complex technical work in the repair and checkout of electrical; mechanical; pneumatic; hydraulic; or electronic components, assemblies, and devices. The items serviced at this level have interdependent electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or electronic units and devices.
