The position reports to the Executive Director.About Freedom Forward:Freedom Forward works to end US alliances with non-democratic governments. We challenge the business, civil society, and governmental relationships that tie the US to dictators, kings, and apartheid systems.A' We work with diaspora communities, activist networks, allied NGOs, and reform-minded policymakers to drive political change.A' A' Freedom Forward is a new initiative supported by the Open Society Foundations, Arca Foundation, and a network of concerned human rights advocates.A' We are a fiscally sponsored project of the Center for International Policy.Our primary current focus is to build a deep public challenge to the US alliance with the brutal ruling monarchy of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi monarchy has slaughtered thousands in Yemen, imprisoned countless human rights advocates at home, and backed dictatorships across the region.A' Saudi rulers and other repressive allies have also repeatedly pushed the US towards war with Iran.We see our work to end the US-Saudi alliance as intimately connected to the freedom struggles of communities across the Middle East and beyond. In addition to our work to end the US-Saudi alliance, we campaign in active solidarity with communities that seek freedom from oppressive rulers worldwide.The Position:A' Campaign Manager / DirectorSummary:Freedom Forward is hiring for the position of Campaign Manager or Campaign Director. The exact position will be based on the candidateA cents € (TM) s experience.A' The position is responsible for managing and implementing primarily online strategies that mobilize large numbers of people to challenge US foreign policy and help end the US alliance with the Saudi monarchy.A' The position has an initial one year term, with the possibility of renewal. The position is based in Washington DC and remotely supervised by the Executive Director.A' Duties and Responsibilities:Create and launch online campaigns that push civil society and private sector targets to end their relationships with the Saudi family dictatorship and other repressive governments.Write, edit, and produce a significant amount of online campaign content. Create petitions, email alerts, issue briefs, webpages, social media, and other online and offline materials.Use major digital activism platforms to engage and mobilize the public. These include public platforms of progressive digital organizations, as well as third-party vendors.Build A cents € oeladders of engagementA cents € that enable activists and supporters to deepen their involvement in our campaigns, starting with online petitions and moving to offline actions that include phone calls, pressure on selected targets, protests, media, and more.A' Write online fundraising appeals for Freedom Forward supporters, and track results.Work in coalition with allies, including partner organizations, diaspora communities, individual advocates, and Freedom Forward advisers to build new online and offline campaigns.Research new campaign areas and targets, leveraging the work and insights of partner organizations and advisers.Develop both pre-planned campaigns as well as rapid response actions that react to the dayA cents € (TM) s headlines to drive our agenda.Recruit and supervise interns as needed and when useful for campaign support.Contribute to Freedom ForwardA cents € (TM) s overall growth.Skills and Requirements:Campaigning knowledge:A' Awareness of strategies and approaches to campaigning, including targeting private sector, civil society, and government actors.A' Familiarity with historical examples of grassroots challenges to economic and political power. Strong knowledge of strategies for building public support, driving pressure on targets, shifting public discourse, and changing targetsA cents € (TM) behavior.Campaigning skills: Experience with and willingness to learn nuts and bolts of building issue campaigns, public mobilization, and online activism. Experience with moving supporters and activists up the ladder of engagement from online petitions to online and offline actions for human rights.A' Experience with working in coalition with allied organizations, networks, and activists.Very strong writing skills: Clear and efficient English-language communicator across multiple formats and styles -- succinct petitions, engaging email alerts, activist materials, phone alerts, social media, etc.Online campaign experience: Experience with online strategies and platforms for recruiting, engaging, and mobilizing large numbers of people. Proficiency in online petition and organizing platforms, including Action Network and major third-party petition platforms, such as MoveOn, Avaaz, , etc.Offline campaign experience: Experience with strategies for building public pressure on campaign targets, including phone calls, volunteer-led protests and events, meetings with target decision-makers, media engagement, etc.Diaspora experience: Experience and familiarity with Muslim, Arab, and/or Middle Eastern communities, especially including diasporas in the United States.Issue and regional knowledge: Demonstrated interest and knowledge of human rights, including specifically womenA cents € (TM) s human rights, US foreign policy in the Middle East, financial and business relationships between the US and Middle East economies, governments, etc.A spirit of experimentation: We are a new project in a rapid growth phase, building new campaigns to drive a dramatic transformation in human rights and US foreign policy.A' We donA cents € (TM) t already know which campaigns will succeed. The ideal candidate is comfortable trying different ideas, dropping unsuccessful tactics, learning from failure, and sprinting towards success.Courage: We are challenging brutal governments and powerful interests that use violence to maintain power. The ideal candidate is comfortable pushing oppressive entities to change their behavior.Operations mindset: Comfortable building systems to measure and track success.
