Summary

This position is located in the Regional Office, Eastern Region, Division of Management Services at the National Credit Union Administration. The incumbent provides technical and administrative support to the Director, Division of Administration, in the areas of budget, procurement, records management, space and property management, supplies and equipment and general administrative areas.

Responsibilities

As a Management Assistant (Programs), you will:
  • Draft procedural guidance to regional managers and supervisors concerning the requirement for submission of annual estimates of funding needs.
  • Determine needs of regional staff and obtain through various methods all supplies and equipment needed to support staff.
  • Serve as Records Management Officer for the Region.
  • Assist in planning layouts of office alterations and coordinates work to completion.
  • Arrange for regional conferences and/or meetings.
  • Act as regional expert on travel regulations by providing staff with necessary information to conform with present travel regulations.

Qualifications

You must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

To qualify at the CU-07 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-06 level in federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as experience in all of the following areas:

1) providing administrative support for an office; 2) assisting in the preparation of written correspondence, presentations, or reports using automated software; and 3) maintaining office schedules and calendars.

To qualify at the CU-08 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-07 level in federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as experience in all of the following areas:

1) providing administrative support for an office to include assistance with supply procurement; 2) monitoring and tracking expenditures to assist in the development of budget estimates; 3) assisting in the preparation of written correspondence, presentations, and reports using automated software; and 4) making arrangements for department meetings.

To qualify at the CU-09, level you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the CU/GS-08 level in federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as experience in all of the following areas:

1) providing a wide variety of administrative support for an office to include supply procurement; 2) researching and compiling budgetary data for the formulation of budget estimates; 3) preparing a variety of written correspondence, presentations, and reports using automated software; 4) verifying and analyzing data for accuracy and completeness; 5) making arrangements for regional meetings and/or conferences.

Education

Education is not typically creditable for this position, however, graduate education may be credited in an instance where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

All education must be achieved by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement). If you are selected for this position at the CU-07, or CU-08, you may be non-competitively promoted to the next level through CU-09 level provided that you have fulfilled the necessary qualification requirements including any applicable certification processes. Promotion is not automatic and is conditional on demonstrated ability to perform the higher grade level duties, a current written performance appraisal rating of "fully successful" or better, fulfillment of the necessary qualification requirements, and sufficient work at the higher grade level position.

SALARY: Pay will be set using NCUA's Compensation policy. The salary range shown is NCUA's Local Pay Rate (LPR) which includes a locality rate of 42.87 percent for the Alexandria, Virginia geographical area.
