Summary

This position is located in the Naval Support Activity, Regional Support Services Program, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department. The purpose of this position is to supervise the efficient operation of the snack bar in the assigned facility. This position is located at the Golf Course, located on Oceana Naval Air Station, in Virginia Beach, Va.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the efficient operation of the snack bar, which includes equipment maintenance and repair, supervison of staff, cleanliness of the snack bar and adjoining areas and compliance with all cash handling, sanitation, fire and safety regulations. Ensures the proper receipt and storage of requisitioned items and enforces established internal controls to prevent pilferage in the facility. Prompty reports shortages to the supervisor and assists in investigations. Maintains adequate stock levels, requisitions merchanise in accordance with policies and performs periodic inventories. Supervises and coordinates the preparation and sale of food and beverage items, ensuring proper preparation, portion and quality control and display and pricing of food items. Personally observes snack bar operations to ensure courteous and efficient service to the customer. May be required to prepare and cook customer orders, ensuring proper portion control and presentation to cover staff shortages. May operate a cash register, ring sales and provide sales and provide correct change to the customer. At end of shift, completes the Daily Acitivity Report (DAR), ensures all cash handling/reporting/securing requirements are met,verifies the amount of money collected and drops the cashier bag into he drop safe.

Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid health card.
  • If alcohol is served in the facility, must be CARE certified within 30 days of hire, and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Work may be subject to an irregular tour of duty, to include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Employment is conditional on the successful completion of a National Agency Check or equivalent background check(s) upon selection and periodically therafter.


Education

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and possess a minimum of 3 or more year's documented food service experience.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.

For positions requiring travel more than twice per year, selectee may be required to obtain and maintain in good standing a Government-issued Travel Card for official government travel purposes.
