Summary: The Pricing and Purchasing team at IHS Markit delivers vital price, cost and inflation information that helps companies save millions of dollars. We do this by dissecting a material cost structure of our clients' suppliers, to provide a detailed analysis of their prices, costs, demand, and productivity. This provides our clients a strategic advantage in negotiating with suppliers, as well as a "blueprint" of when to make big purchases while minimizing risk. As a member of this growing team, you will develop, enhance, and expand our analyses and forecasts with specific emphasis on translating insights into relevant, actionable client solutions. Job Responsibilities: This Economist will act as a research assistant for our global metals team and will compile, monitor, and analyze price, supply, and demand data to deliver the most accurate metal price forecast to our clients. Specific responsibilities include: Compile global production, capital expenditure and capacity data from company reports and other sources Calculate endmarket demand factors for steel and other metals Create and maintain a supply-demand forecast model for the global metals market Work on other research projects as needed Required Education/Experience: BA/MA in Economics , 1-3 years of experience is a plus Required Skills and Attributes: Strong and adaptable research and analytical skills, including ability to interpret data and research, and write/produce structured, compelling reports Statistical / modeling experience, preferably in EViews Exposure to Python and Power BI is a plus Coordination skills; ability to prioritize own workload and work to deadlines and under pressure Excellent English speaking and writing capabilities Strong team spirit We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/Disability/Veterans.
