Established in 1953, our organization provides anesthesia, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, radiology, primary/urgent care, surgical services, and women's and children's health services to hospitals and health systems nationwide.The newborn hearing screen technician performs hearing screens on all infants prior to discharge from the hospital.We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician to work on a part time basis. Positions are based in a busy Newborn Nursery / NICU hospital setting at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital . This part time position will enable the right person to work up to 26 hours per week. Schedules will be determined a month in advance and may include some weekends/holidays.ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS PART TIME POSITION: The technician is responsible for performing all hearing screens with AABR certified equipment. The technician is responsible for screening both ears on the initial screening and rescreen (if applicable) per the screening protocol defined in the Newborn Hearing Screen Policies and Procedures manual. The technician is responsible for answering general questions and inquiries as well as providing written information to the parents regarding the hearing screen procedures and results. The technician will obtain and document consent, to perform the hearing screen, from parent prior to screening. The technician shall verify the following prior to screening: infant's name, mother's name, mother's date of birth, parents' insurance, demographic information, family history of hearing loss, and name of Pediatrician (if applicable). The technician will give the parent(s) a copy of the result form and place the original copy in the infant's medical record. The technician will enter initial screen and rescreen results in hospital EHR as required by facility and/or on State website. The technician will record number of daily screens in the time and attendance record keeping system. The technician will keep a daily log or census for each date of service of all infants screened each day and will submit log with billing paperwork once signed by the physician. The technician will prepare a billing packet for each infant. This will include a copy of the results, the mother's and infant's face sheet, along with the billing slip. The technician will adhere to all HIPAA, PHI and OSHA guidelines. The technician will maintain and use the equipment as recommended by the company. The technician will restock and organize hearing supplies and communicate shortages to Supervisor in a period established by Supervisor. The technician will be evaluated by Supervisor after completion of initial training (usually 30 days), at 90 days, and annually thereafter. Performs clerical duties as assigned. The technician will keep Supervisor informed of operational issues requiring immediate intervention. Interact and develop relationships with hospital personnel to ensure effective level of communication. Daily practice of Envision's core values. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on program needs, including weekdays, weekends and holiday shifts, if needed.QualificationsSuccessful candidates must have the following Education and Experience in order to be considered: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 1 or more years of healthcare related experience. Able to work part time up to 26 hours a week. Be customer service Possess basic computer skills.
