Record daily bank activity in general ledger (checkbook) and reconcile all bank accounts on a daily basis, which includes the tracking of outstanding checks. Responsible for researching and resolving reconciling items. This position is full-time and is located in Arlington, Virginia and will report to the Director of Marketing. Core Working Hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Qualifications/Characteristics: Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 2 years of accounting experience, with an understanding of accounting concepts is a must. Must have a solid knowledge of MS Office applications, including Excel and Word. Experience working with a general ledger and chart of accounts is needed, Microsoft Dynamics is a plus. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and multi-task, as well as be a team player. Adapt well under pressure, be self-motivated and driven to go the extra mile to ensure that Navy Mutual's goals are achieved while delivering exceptional work quality and be open to changes to increase efficiency and best practices. Primary Responsibilities: Help maintain general ledger records, including supporting documentation for journal entries Record daily bank activity in general ledger (checkbook) and reconcile all bank accounts on a daily basis, which includes the tracking of outstanding checks. Responsible for researching and resolving reconciling items Process Accounts Payable; verify invoices for accuracy prior to payment; verify compliance with Navy Mutual's policies and procedures and investigate authenticity of charges; provide effective administration of wire transfers Record monthly and quarterly journal entries on a timely basis Maintain selected subsidiary ledgers as needed and assist in the reconciliation of subsidiary account balances on a monthly basis Maintain fixed assets schedules and record monthly depreciation expense Research and reconcile suspense accounts on a daily basis Assist other departments with member requests, including but not limited to re-issuing and/or voiding checks Assist with vendors and consultants as needed Work to improve current processes in order to be as efficient as possible Other duties as assigned Navy Mutual offers a Full Benefits package including, medical, dental, vision, 401k, life and disability insurance.
