Job Title: Cognos Analyst/Developer Level 3 Location: Washington DC Specific Position Responsibilities C2C & W2 Analyze business requests and document report requirements. Perform source data analysis and mapping. Design reports or prototypes and present to customers. Perform reverse engineering to determine the functionality of existing reports for re-writing. Develop Cognos models, reports and dashboards; Develop reports in other reporting tools as assigned. Perform enhancements and defect fixes for existing reports. Write test plans and test cases linked to requirements. Develop technical documentation as required by program standards; Write end-user documentation as required. Specific Position Requirements The candidate must possess the following skills: Work closely with business SMEs to define BI report requirements and implement and deploy BI reports in multiple functional areas related to fare collection systems. Utilize Cognos Report, Query, Analysis, Event and Workspace Advanced Studios to design and deliver complex reports and widgets; Utilize Cognos Framework Mgr. to define data sources and metadata, design and build OLAP cubes; Design and implement management dashboards using Cognos. Coordinate lifecycle activities from development to production Support Tableau reports as needed. Analyze requirements for business intelligence reports and dashboards. Analyze data sources for mapping to Business Intelligence (BI) requirements. Work closely with customers to determine best approach for user community. Determine best approach for data delivery depending on data sources and requirements. Preferred candidates will have the following skills and experience: At least 8 years fulltime Cognos development experience; At least 5 years Cognos experience utilizing Query, Reports, Analysis, Event, and Workspace Advanced Studios; Significant experience in OLAP solutions using Cognos Impromptu, Transformer, Power Play, Cube Design; especially for financial reports and dashboards. Experience with Crystal Reports and/or Hummingbird reports. Demonstrated facility to write and debug PL/SQL and SQL for quick turn-around requirements. Experience using statistical functions and analytical programming languages such as R to identify patterns and correlations in large data sets. Experience using SSIS Modeler; Strong communication skills and success training end users of BI products. Experience using Erwin, SSIS, TOAD, Tableau.
