Senior Scientist, Primary Cells The Senior Scientist, Primary Cells is responsible for initiating and managing R&D programs to develop primary cell-based products, services and standards for life science research in areas such as in-vitro assays for toxicology applications. The Senior Scientist plans, executes and troubleshoots research activities and investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts towards development of new and/or improved cell-based models and cell culture reagents. The Senior Scientist will be expected to identify new and improved technologies and reagents for primary cell establishment and expansion. Will work with product managers, customers, quality, finance, and operations to develop and launch primary cell based products. Responsibilities Responsible for execution of all product development projects in the Primary Cell Team including development of methods of the isolation, expansion and cryopreservation of a wide variety of primary cells and development/optimization of growth media. Responsibilities includes initial design, feasibility testing, development and troubleshooting. Establishment and maintenance of excellent working conditions with existing and new external tissue provision organizations and knowledge of and adherence to current HIPAA and other relevant information and policies. Development of robust SOPs for tech transfer of new and/or improved methods to Operations and support of projects through successful tech transfer. Anticipates technical risks and develops mitigation strategies that ensure the projects are executed with full scientific rigor and deliver robust products and tech transfer protocols and processes that are on-time, on-budget and to specification. Requirements Ph.D. in a biological life science, and 5 - 8 years of relevant work experience is required. 4 - 6 years of relevant hands-on experience in the isolation, expansion and cryopreservation of a variety of primary cell types, human cell isolation expertise is required, additional years are highly preferred.
