Paragon Gene Therapy, in Baltimore, Harmans, Rockville, & Gaithersburg, Maryland, provides industry-leading GMP development and manufacturing services for cutting-edge biopharmaceuticals such as recombinant viral vectors, next generation vaccines & hard-to-express recombinant proteins and oncolytic viruses. The Supervisor, Facilities and Maintenance will report to the Associate Director, Facilities and Engineering, and will be responsible for the overall facilities needs, GMP and non GMP areas of Manufacturing, Product Development, and Administrative Buildings of Paragon Gene Therapy. Specifically, supervising and executing the preventative maintenance, repairs, and installation for GMP compliance of building utilities, HVAC, control systems, water and steam systems and process equipment. The position directs the day to day activities of the maintenance team, training, security, pest control, and associated contractors. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage a team of Facilities Mechanics (between 4-8) across multiple shifts Operates and maintains utility systems - HVAC, clean steam generator, chiller, usp-water/DI water skids, plant steam boilers, air compressors, house vacuum, and refrigeration systems Drawing upon seasoned mechanical and electrical experience, will engage in troubleshooting across the facility Will assist in establishing/maintaining calibration and preventative programs for the facility; this includes generating operational protocol(s) and preventative maintenance SOPs/records for various utility systems and equipment (manufacturing/lab) Ensures BAS (Building Automation System) operations for the facility are functional Works with staff and subcontractors on scheduled equipment preventative maintenance and calibration Accurately maintains/completes all equipment logbooks and maintenance records within a software maintenance management program Senior repair technician of laboratory and manufacturing equipment such as: fermenters, chromatography skid/ HPLC systems, pumps, filtration skids, freezers, centrifuges etc. Will participate in facility expansion, validation Works under general supervision to meet project goals Will recommend parts/supply purchases for equipment within the manufacturing/lab areas Works closely with manufacturing/lab staff to troubleshoot and repair equipment problems Works closely with various departments at Paragon and offers assistance as needed Visibly supports and leads adherence to Paragon safety procedures, practices and the cGMPs Experience and Education: High School Diploma; Bachelors degree preferred 8 years or more years related work experience (GMP / Bio-Pharma maintenance/ engineering); clean room experience or experience in a similar regulated industry 3 years of leadership experience as either shift or direct supervisor Must demonstrate abilities in mechanical/electrical repairs and maintenance. Automation and controls operation, repairs and maintenance are preferred Class III Stationary Engineer's license is preferred Must have proficient knowledge of controls and automation operations Requires basic math and computer skills (WORD, EXCEL) and must be familiar with building automation systems (BAS). Must have the ability to lift/carry 40 lbs. and to work on ladders/step stools. Requires working extended periods on his/her feet in a fast-paced environment.
