Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the World Construction Manager Reports To: Program Manager, CSSP This position is located in Kabul, Afghanistan. The duties and responsibilities of the Construction Manager shall include, but not limited to: DUTIES: Coordinates with OCONUS team to determine projects for completion through the IPMT provision of the SOW.Oversees all aspects of IPMT projects from concept through post-completion activities. Oversees the work of project teams as assigned and is responsible for communicating team objectives, missions, goals, and problems to be solved, milestones and procedures.Periodically reports to the supervisor on team and individual work accomplishments, problems, progress in completing task and work processes. Provides leadership to team in exploring alternatives and determining what improvements can be made in work methods, processes and procedures.Coordinates with the appropriate personnel to establish schedules, project scope criteria, budgets, and dependencies and responsibilities. Assures that the requirements of all projects stakeholders are identified and included in the planning documentation for assigned projects. Coordinates the preparation of detailed schedules for the execution of assigned projects assuring that all factors that will impact the schedules are identified and considered in their preparation.Participates in the analysis of subcontractor proposals and provides input into recommendations for award of construction contracts. Resolve problems submitted from the field, and make recommendations on change order, time extensions, cost increases and similar contractual matters.Applies knowledge of the workings and organization of correctional facilities and the unique issues faced in the planning, design, renovation and construction of such facilities during planning and execution of assigned projects.Organize and lead large interdisciplinary teams of architects and engineers, mostly Afghan, toward the successful completion of renovation projects.Manage multiple projects simultaneously, keeping stakeholders and senior management apprised of progress, risks and issues, while achieving a defined schedule for all project activities.Make quarterly visits to Kabul, as the security situation permits, to oversee the work of the local engineers QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working for an NGO or other international company is preferred.Must be willing to train Afghan Engineers. REQUIRED: Education: A bachelor's degree with professional registration as a Civil Engineer and 3 years of relevant experience in design, supervision, and implementation of correctional facilities, jails, or criminal justice complex construction projects.Experience: Minimum of 5 years progressive experience managing construction projectsSecurity Vetting: Must be able to secure and maintain a MRPT certificationCitizenship: US Citizenship is required for this position.Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination.
