The Controller ensures the integrity and completeness of the accounting for CSBS. This includes supervising accounting staff responsible for day-to-day transactions, ensuring an accurate month-end and annual close, and maintaining proper accounting standards are effectively applied. Supervise and deliver timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end closes including: Directing the activities of the accounting staff Reviewing all journal entries and basis for accruals Ensure proper recording of all financial transactions Managing all aspects of the general ledger Preparing consolidated financial statements Conduct periodic reviews of accounting internal controls and recommends improvements Remain current on all changes in US GAAP and non-profit accounting and recommend changes in policies when appropriate Monitor the accounting team's workload to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy Provide guidance to allow staff to handle non-routine/complex transactions Maintain directory of department SOPs and ensure periodic updates are made Oversee the audit readiness process by scheduling PBC work papers and reconciliations Serve as primary liaison with the external audit staff on audit inquires to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit Provide training and goal setting to new and existing staff Additional Responsibilities Deliver reliable and timely financial information to the FP&A team Provide ad-hoc report support as needed to assist the CFO and FP&A Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in accounting CPA required 10 - 12 years of progressive experience in an accounting firm or in non-profit accounting environment Prior experience supervising accounting staff required Strong knowledge of US GAAP and not-for-profit accounting Knowledge of accounting policies/procedures Excellent analytical skills as well as outstanding written, oral and interpersonal communication skills Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on advanced Excel functions Previous experience implementing a new accounting system Customer service experience with clients, customers and members to satisfy their expectations Committed to quality service Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong supervisory skills Self-starter Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) preferred Experience developing financial reports Working Conditions General office To apply, please visit https://www.csbs.org/careers
