The new Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics of the George Washington University (GWU) Milken Institute School of Public Health (SPH) is recruiting two full-time tenure-track faculty members at the assistant, associate, or full professor level. Candidates with interests in all areas of statistics and in the emerging field of data science are invited to apply. Launched in Summer of 2019, the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics elevates the schoolA cents € (TM) s commitment to the quantitative sciences and supports the university-wide focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The vision of the Department is to improve public health through excellence in education and teaching in biostatistics and bioinformatics, transformative scientific research, and dedicated service to the university, profession and community. With twenty Department faculty that have received more research funding than any other department at the university, the Department educates the next generation of leaders in biostatistics and bioinformatics by providing opportunities for close interactions with award winning faculty and practical real-world training opportunities in clinical trials, observational studies, diagnostic studies, and bioinformatics and computational biology.A' GWU is located in Washington DC and surrounded by major US federal agencies and family-friendly attractions, providing faculty and students with ready access to tremendous research resources and enormous cultural and educational assets the nationA cents € (TM) s capital has to offer. GWUA cents € (TM) s SPH is only school of public health in DC and currently ranked #12 on US News and World ReportA cents € (TM) s list of Best Public Health Graduate Schools.Responsibilities:A' The successful candidate will be involved with collaborative applied and methodological research, teaching and developing graduate-level courses, and mentoring students. The successful candidate will develop and maintain an active research program in biostatistics. Opportunities to conduct research and collaborate at the renowned Biostatistics Center are available. Basic Qualifications:A' All applicants must have a doctoral degree conferred no later than the start date of the position in biostatistics, statistics, data science or relevant field. Applicants must have a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications, evidence of proposing and/or implementing funded research, and a history of teaching graduate level courses and/or mentoring graduate students. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
