Fairwinds Technologies has an exciting opportunity for experienced mid to senior Software Engineers to support business growth. This position will be in our office in Gaithersburg, MD. Fairwinds Technologies is looking for an energetic, creative and team-oriented individual to work on specialized communication modems, network control software and L2/L3 networking for our products & systems used in SATCOM hubs and portable, land-mobile, airborne, helicopters, fixed-wing aircrafts. A' The individual will be part of an engineering team that develops embedded and server-side software using latest toolchains in a full life cycle software development environment. A' Responsibilities: A' . A' A' A' Work from requirements through to software delivery, participating as a team member throughput the softwaredevelopment life cycle A' . A' A' A' Collaborate with customers, to understand and analyze requirements A' . A' A' A' Develop robust high-level software designs that meet requirements A' . A' A' A' Develop code and automated unit tests that meet design A' . A' A' A' Resolve issues raised by system test teams in a timely and effective manner A' A' Requirements: A' . A' A' A' BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline with 10 or more years of experience A' . A' A' A' 5-10 years software design and development experience including the development of software design documents A' . A' A' A' 5-10 years in real-time embedded software development, including C/C++, Linux and real-time operating systems (RTOS) A' . A' A' A' 5+ yearsA cents € (TM) experience developing networking or control software on server-based systems A' . A' A' A' US Citizen, and willing and able to work on Govt. DoD projects A' A' Preferred Qualifications: A' . A' A' A' Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field A' . A' A' A' 10+ yearsA cents € (TM) experience reviewing software implementations to ensure they meet system requirements A' . A' A' A' 5+ years hands on experience of computer networking principles, L2/L3 networking A' . A' A' A' Proficient in Multi-threaded application development and inter-process communication A' . A' A' A' Experience writing technical documents for external customers A' . A' A' A' Experience working on government systems and/or government process environment A' . A' A' A' Experience working on satellite telecommunications systems A' . A' A' A' Experience working in an Agile software methodology A' . A' A' A' Experience with a configuration management tool (eg GIT, Bitbucket) A' . A' A' A' Experience of satellite hub/gateway system design and implementation
