The Senior Director of Marketing puts their creative stamp on every aspect of NBAA's conventions, conferences, seminars and forums. Responsible for oversight and strategic direction of NBAA's event marketing program, this natural leader works closely with a wide range of team members to develop cohesive, forward-thinking outreach campaigns that bring a dynamic industry to life. Candidates for this position should be highly experienced marketing professionals with at least 10 years of proven success working with large-scale global events. Superb communication and leadership skills are a must, as is the ability to simultaneously juggle a large number of near- and long-term objectives. This position is expected to play a leading role in guiding the association's overarching marketing strategy, so candidates must demonstrate excellent visual, written and strategic creativity. Preferred candidates will have experience with tradeshows, marketing automation and business/general aviation. NBAA is looking for an imaginative marketing expert who is passionate about delivering compelling stories that engage audiences, develop new relationships and enhance the attendee experience at world-class events. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Oversee strategic direction for the pre-show marketing of all NBAA events to drive registration and exhibit sales with prospects - including approval of the production plan, new test strategies and core creative materials. Oversee strategic direction for all on-site marketing at NBAA's events, as well as engagement efforts to registered attendees and exhibitors leading up to the shows, to enhance all key touchpoints of the event experience. Oversee the data analytics strategy, ensuring proper tracking is in place to provide reporting and key metrics, and ultimately, data-driven decisions on real-time optimizations and future planning. Work with NBAA's Tech Team and other key stakeholders to select and implement a marketing automation platform for the association. Explore new strategic partnerships and leverage existing ones to expand market reach and identify new prospects - both within the industry and with VIP buyers - working with special interest groups, other associations, media partners, exhibitors, keynote speakers, high-end hotels and others to drive new attendees to the shows. Work with the SVP, Communications to develop a unique value proposition and messaging for the high net worth segment, along with a social influencer strategy to expand reach and create authentic engagement with these buyers. Manage development, selection and implementation of annual umbrella design updates for the three BACE properties and for NBAA conferences/forums, as well as work with the membership and communications team to vet any association-wide brand updates that may impact event marketing. Work with communications team to integrate video marketing strategy and creative assets. Oversee any event market research initiatives as needed. Initiate, vet and oversee any new marketing initiatives and vendors for the program to better optimize the existing marketing and drive future innovation and success. Oversee primary event marketing agency and provide direction and approval on scope of work and budget. Effectively supervise the Director, the Senior Manager and the Manager of Event Marketing, along with general oversight over the full marketing team which also includes the Manager, Marketing Strategy & Partnerships and Marketing Traffic Manager. Provide feedback, support and approvals as needed, and mentor their development. Present or provide content for the Board of Directors meeting, Joint Task Force Committee meeting and EAC Meetings as needed. Follow and administer all company policies and act as a role model in the adherence to policies. Other duties as assigned. Travel - 15% per year Budgetary Responsibility - Develop and manage an annual marketing budget of about $1MM across all events and provide direction for end-of-year accruals. Supervision Received - Limited supervision by SVP, Conventions & Membership. Decision Making - Scope of Authority - Make decisions around prioritization of work and select appropriate course of action, but also make decisions that affect department-wide goals, direction and strategy. Contacts -Work closely with the internal staff that run our NBAA events to ensure marketing efforts are vetted and approved. Work with other internal staff contacts as needed on shared projects, or when review from other departments is necessary. Influence key decisions being made in other divisions that impact event marketing efforts. Negotiate cross-promotional presence for events as appropriate on the efforts these other divisions oversee. Also interface with Accounting on any budgetary issues, on setting the fiscal expense budget, and in managing any remaining accruals at year-end. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES Supervise the Director, Senior Manager, and Manager of Event Marketing, with general oversight over the full marketing team, which also includes the Manager, Marketing Strategy & Partnerships and the Marketing Traffic Manager. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Specific requirements include but are not limited to: SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Experience using data analytics software, such as Tableau or similar, to track and report marketing efforts. Experience with marketing automation platforms, such as Marketo, Hubspot, Pardot or similar. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships and teams. Ability to provide ideas and recommendations on design layout and content improvements. Strong leadership skills. Effective oral communication skills, including the ability to interact successfully with both internal and external contacts. Strong writing skills, with ability to generate letters, articles or marketing/promotional copy as necessary. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team as well as independently. Proficient in organizational, project and time management skills, with strong attention to a myriad of details. Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously. Expert at problem solving especially under time constraints and in challenging situations. Experience setting and managing budgets. Strong managerial skills, with ability to oversee one or more employees and outside vendor relationships. Ability to travel 15% per year EDUCATION Four-year accredited Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or Business Administration or equivalent experience. EXPERIENCE At least 10 years experience in marketing, advertising or related field. At least 10 years management experience. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Tradeshow marketing experience. Knowledge of the Business Aviation Industry and the type of Members we serve. Experience with marketing automation platforms a plus.
