Responsibilities

  • Serves as Management Assistant with responsibility for administering Travel, Overtime, and Recognition and Awards Program.
  • Manages credit card program and supplies for Resource Support Office.
  • Reviews/evaluates documents to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and designation of appropriate funding (Defense Working Capital Fund (DWCF), appropriated funds/reimbursable, e.g. IPP, RMF, IPE).
  • Programs and utilizes spreadsheet/database applications to maintain account balances, compiles statistical data and develops management reports.
  • Analyzes data relevant to assigned program areas and researches variances between internal reports and the financial system.
  • Updates/modifies programs/procedures, when necessary, to ensure orderly administration of travel, overtime, and incentive award program areas.
  • Provides administrative support to higher graded analysts in the areas of budget, training, personnel, time and attendance.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Management Assistant (OA), your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
  • Reviewing travel, overtime, or award requests to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Performing administrative procedures by utilizing various types of computer software.
  • Preparing documents and correspondence for review.
B. Typing Proficiency Requirement: Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute

C. Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
