Responsibilities

This position is located in the Human Capital Office. This position has responsibility for a number of key security areas including developing and/or managing all activities relating to personnel security; safeguarding of national security information and material. Major duties include, but are not limited, to the following:
  • Planning, budgeting, and implementing the badge, credentialing and identification systems for federal employees and other appropriate personnel.
  • Analyzing and evaluating the employee/contractor identification and access programs.
  • Participating in the security program for national security clearance levels that grant access to classified or other sensitive information, materials, or worksites.
  • Coordinating and implementing approved policies and programs for the development of personnel security requirements for the protection of government employees, contractors,and others.
  • Implementing security procedures and designs.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of existing security practices.

You must be a U.S. citizen or national.

You must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain a Top Secret clearance. Failure to maintain a Top Secret clearance will be ground for termination.

You must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date.

You may be required to serve a 1 year probationary period.

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade/band requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade).

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-12 grade level (starting salary $83,398) if you possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level performing the following duties:
  • Planning and implementing a badge, credentialing, and identification system for employees, contractors, and affiliates
  • Making security clearance determinations for employees or other persons for access to sensitive information, resources, materials
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing security practices, and making recommendations for improvement
  • Collecting detailed personal information and files for a background investigation

    You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
