Summary

This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting development and execution of joint training, exercise and assessment duties to include supporting the development, management and execution of the annual Joint Training Plan (JTP), EIWG, JETWG, ARPEP, LLP, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

As a JOINT TRAINING SYSTEMS SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Independently plans, develops, coordinates and supports execution of DTRAs JTP and conducts assessments of mission readiness in order to achieve DIR DTRA's training guidance.
  • Develops, executes, and assess joint collective staff training. Conducts assessments to achieve AMET proficiency.
  • Manages and coordinates execution of the DTRA JTP in accordance with the DoD Joint Training System (JTS) and supporting systems and procedures (JTIMS, JLLIS) through the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) to enhance DTRAs readiness to execute its Agency Mission Essential Tasks and Functions.
  • Represents DTRA and attends appropriate joint training and exercise meetings and conferences involving interagency and DoD planners to develop and coordinate Joint Training to include scenario elements, exercise control architectures, information management procedures, and assessment plans in order to achieve DTRA training objectives.
  • Plans, coordinates, executes and assesses DTRA JTP events to ensure proficiency to execute collective staff tasks. Plans, coordinates and publishes after action reports for JTP events to include recommended corrective actions and an office of primary responsibility, applicable offices of coordinating responsibility, and subject matter experts to resolve issues.
  • Develops, coordinates and executes and assesses the DTRA Joint Training Plan. Coordinates and incorporates applicable DTRA CWMD and C-IT training requirements, and directed continuity training requirements into DTRA joint training.
  • Participates in reviews, conferences and working groups to recommend organizational positions on DoD and US Government CWMD, C-IED, contingency, continuity, and joint training public laws, executive orders, regulations, policies, doctrine and plans.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
    Utilizing a demonstrated knowledge of the Joint Training System processes and procedures; joint exercise planning, scenario development, execution and facilitation of Countering WMD (CWMD) and Countering Improvised Threat (CIT ) mission related exercises and training events; Ability to express complex issues clearly and concisely using and marshaling facts in an objective manner; Ability to develop and present joint training and exercise briefings effectively with officials across the DoD, the U.S. Government Inter-agency, and partner nations; ability to conduct adaptive joint training and exercises to evaluate mission readiness.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
