NGMS, Embedded andIntel Software Engineering Organizationis seeking a Principal Software Engineer with the desire to learn new technologies to join our innovative Cognitive team. The work will involve: * conducting research in artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning, and prototypes advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques to stretch the capability of autonomous systems research and development programs. * Defining, developing, and delivering novel mathematical and statistical modeling and algorithm development to tackle the challenges of prediction, optimization, and classification. * Applyingmachine learning algorithms to large sets of structured and unstructured data to solve a broad range of problems that include applications in pattern recognition, target detection and tracking, machine learning and decision systems, and robotic systems. * Designing, developing, documenting, testing and debuging applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. * Collaborating with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. * Analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, and programming techniques and controls. * Collaborating with cross-functional team to deploy machine learning algorithms to prototype testing and production. * Ensuring software standards are met. This position is located in Linthicum, MD. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related STEM fields * A minimum of 5+ years of experience, (3 years with MS degree; 0 years with PhD). . * The demonstrated ability to perform innovative, applied research, and to develop sophisticated algorithms under computational or other resource constraints. * Experience with conventional software engineering principles, including code maintenance, coding standards, and version control. * Experience with open source computer vision and machine learning libraries (eg, OpenCV, Caffe, Theano, and TensorFlow), Unix/Linux operating systems, and multi-threaded/parallel computing. * Experience with algorithm implementations in MATLAB and software development in C, C++, and/or Objective C. * This position requires an active Top Secret level security clearance Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
