One of the country's leading receivables outsourcing firms, Fair Collections & Outsourcing, Inc., seeks a Compliance Attorney to help conduct the firm's consumer response program. The position will be based in the firm's Beltsville, Maryland headquarters. The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of relevant experience handling consumer financial and privacy law compliance matters. This attorney will be responsible for helping conduct the firm's response to consumer dispute matters, and facilitating the firm's consumer privacy program. The candidate must have excellent credentials, meticulous care for detail and accuracy, strong written and verbal communication skills, be ready to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a creative approach to solving business and legal problems. Responsibilities Independently investigate and draft the firm's response to consumer disputes in litigation and administrative complaint channels. Negotiate settlement terms and conditions consistent with firm policies. Serve as corporate secretary for firm's consumer privacy council meetings. Review and maintain compliance with state licensing obligations and applicable consumer financial laws and regulations. Qualifications JD from accredited law school with excellent academics. Licensed to practice as an attorney in at least one jurisdiction. Willingness to apply to DC Bar, if not already licensed to practice in DC At least 1-4 years' relevant experience with consumer financial services and/or consumer privacy law. Excellent ability to analyze recurring legal fact patterns and develop appropriate responses. Excellent written and oral communication skills with persons of diverse backgrounds. Excellent project management skills, with ability to adhere to multiple deadlines. Prior experience with receivables management or rental housing operations is helpful.
