The National Cancer Institute (NCI) the Federal government's principal agency supporting cancer research; it is also responsible for carrying out the National Cancer Program. NCI's Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT) coordinates and deploys information technology (IT), data science, and informatics resources to support NCI research initiatives, both intramural and extramural. Join GDIT as a Subject Matter Expert in its critical support for NCI programs to help CBIIT develop, coordinate, and provide biomedical information standards to evaluate, coordinate, and prioritize NCI's informatics research portfolio.In this role, you will:Augment or direct teams providing high level functional systems definition, analysis, design, integration, documentation, implementation, and management of cancer informatics programs.Advise on exceptionally complex issues related to accessibility, usability, interoperability and reusability of experimental data, and the appropriate use of data science, informatics and IT, as it relates to accelerating the NCI mission to prevent, detect, treat and/or cure cancer.Participate in all phases of studies, planning, and projects with specific emphasis on informatics, requiring specific expertise in platforms, services, tools, data, and customized software solutions for scientists. May also advise on biomedical information standards, in support of cancer research and care delivery.Required Qualifications:Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in Data Standards and Semantic Infrastructure with demonstrated experience and success in data modeling and a doctorate-level degree. A Master's degree plus 5 years of additional, directly related work experience may be substituted for the doctorate-level degree.The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation.
