Position Summary Information Basic Function The VA Administrator/Certifying Official will manage a caseload of 500 or more. Performs lead duties of complying with program requirements, federal and state regulations and college policies as it relates to program compliance and processing enrollment certification. To perform records auditing functions daily for yearly compliance survey. To work collaboratively with the Director of Military and Veterans Services. Duties and Responsibilities Performs lead duties in the central Office of Military and Veterans Services. Hires, trains and supervises work-study students. manage a caseload of 500 students, program planning, management, coordination, supervision and evaluation of Performs lead duties of complying with program/federal regulations and college policies as it relates to program compliance, process enrollment certification to VA and Counsels students concerning related academic and regulations pertinent to the student's veteran benefits and accurately performs records maintenance functions. Completes/process veterans' certifications, monitors enrollment activities and completes reporting related to veterans' benefits. To work collaboratively with the Director of Military and Veterans Services. To supervise veteran work-study students, prepare data for reports and perform records maintenance functions daily. Represents the college at annual DVA (Department of Veterans Affairs) conference and State Approving Agency regional training sessions. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in business administration/management, human services, counseling, social services or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and/or training. Several years of experience managing large caseload(s). Several years of experience pertaining to veterans benefits usage and enrollment certification procedures. Some experience with programmatic audits. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in business administration, human services, counseling, social services or a related area or an equivalent combination of training and expertise. Significant years of experience pertaining to veterans programs and certification procedures. Experience working in a college setting. Expert level experience certifying credit and non-credit programs. Prior military experience or family member. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Ability to establish goals and priorities and make decisions based on the certification regulations and institutional policies; Knowledge of veterans benefits programs and certification forms and procedures; Familiarity with People Soft Student Administration System and VA Once; Knowledge of Microsoft office suite; Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; Strong customer service skills; Ability to interpret and explain academic and administrative policies and Certification process and procedures.
