Graphicacy, a design and interactive web development studio, is recruiting an experienced designer to join our team. The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate about data visualization and visual storytelling. They will be capable of designing cutting-edge interactives for Graphicacy's clients to continue to set Graphicacy apart as a leader in innovative and well designed digital products. We are a small team that works fast - as such, we want to work with people who are forward thinking, self-motivated and excited about new opportunities. About this role: Work with Graphicacy's clients to design beautiful and informative interactive and static data visualizations, online applications and information graphics. Provide thought leadership on data visualization best practices and next-generation digital trends and an understanding of innovative data visualization practices. Work with clients and project managers to create graphic designs for a variety of online applications. Work with web developers to review and refine interactive data visualizations. Must have a high level of proficiency using Excel, R, and Tableau or equivalent application(s). Create high-fidelity mockups for vetting and user testing Determine appropriate architecture, and other technical solutions, and make relevant recommendations to clients. Proficiency with Adobe products and strong skills in Sketch, Invision, Zeplin or equivalent applications. About you: Two to three years of related data visualization experience. Understanding of statistics and data analytics Bachelor's in (Information, Graphic, Visual, UX, Web) Design and/or related field(s), or significant equivalent experience. A strong visual design and technical portfolio. A passion to innovate and create work that pushes the boundaries of data visualization and graphic design. An understanding of visualization libraries like D3 Knowledge of browser compatibility across multiple platforms and devices. Strong ability to design with accessibility in mind. Experience working in an agile/scrum development process. Creative ideas with problem solving mindset Be open to receiving objective criticism and improving upon it Bonus points: Experience in digital journalism Familiarity with multiple HTML frameworks, strong JavaScript & jQuery skills (such as consuming APIs) Knowledge of Drupal and WordPress CMS frameworks Create site layout/user interface by using standard HTML / CSS / PHP / JavaScript practices.
