If you have experience in these areas and proven results particularly in Python, automation frameworks, Ansible or other orchestration tools, with solid understanding of virtualization platforms such as VMWare and overall infrastructure environments, apply to join Freddie Mac's IT Automation department. As a Senior Technical Lead, you will be considered an expert and will be looked upon to transform the current web-based operations tools, migrate to our private cloud, help establish DevOps, implement best practices, optimize continued operations, and build great relationships.

Additionally, define the parameters for infrastructure automation and non-CI/CD automation, including working with Architecture to select tools, design solutions, and create and enforce automation standards best practices. Research and recommend automation solutions that support IT modernization, accelerate operations, improve consistency, allow self-service capabilities and increase availability of systems. Define the operational automation and service orchestration framework. Review new or updated policies and standards that impact infrastructure and technology operations. Employs extensive professional expertise as a generalist or specialist. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of ingenuity and creativity. Work is accomplished without appreciable direction. Exerts considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Serves as the organization spokesperson on specialized projects or programs. Acts as counselor to top management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.

Your Work Falls into Three Primary Categories:

  • Collaborate with cross functional technology and business teams to achieve desired outcomes
  • Establish trusting relationships across the enterprise
  • Establish appropriate metrics and reporting on availability, performance, capacity, growth, and utilization

Support of Design and Builds
  • Providing technical expertise to design most efficient and reliable automation solutions for infrastructure deployment tools and self-service portals
  • Integrate with ServiceNow and provide guidance in maintain an infrastructure services catalog
  • Evaluate technology standards, products, and the risks and benefits of technology introduction
  • Develop a roadmap for Automation services
  • Contribute to the Automation COE objectives around providing Automation as a Service
  • Ensure success of upgrades and patches

Support Operations
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures
  • Automate repetitive tasks and performance tuning
  • Ensure overall system and environment availability, performance, and capacity
  • Engage in incident management, resolve complex issues, and provide long term solutions
  • Be available to address urgent issues and implement changes outside of normal working hours


  • 10 years of elaborating and relevant Information Technology experience
  • Expert automation engineer with DevOps/SRE and Agile experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience using or administering Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Fluent in Unix shell and other modern scripting languages
