Grants and Contract Accountant


DEPARTMENT: Controller’s Office

Responsibilities: Monitor financial activities of and provide accounting support for the University’s restricted funds, including financial aid; assist in the development of budgets for grant and contract funded programs; assist in the development and implementation of the daily financial operational procedures for restricted fund activity; ensure the timely receipt of grant and contract related reimbursements to the university. Assist in the development and maintenance of the university’s indirect cost reimbursement rate; prepare sponsor agency financial reports and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; assist in development and delivery of periodic training for principle investigators; analyze financial records (PeopleSoft) at least on a monthly basis for compilation of billing and cash draw-down requirements; ensures appropriate procedures are followed timely for closing grants and contracts as required; ensures compliance with all reporting and audit requirements relating to grants and contracts, including maintaining proper supporting documentation; advises Grants Manager of possible problems concerning grants and contracts; other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required. Minimum one (1) year of experience in accounting required, preferably in a higher education environment. Knowledge of principles and practice of fund accounting. Knowledge of contract and grant accounting regulations, including OMB Circulars. This position may require some evening and weekend work.

SALARY: $47,000 - $53,000                                                                        RANGE: I
