Duties & Responsibilities Medical Science & Computing is currently searching for a Laboratory Technician to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with MSC and is on-site in Bethesda, MD. Perform laboratory techniques relating to scientific research. Assist with preparing specimens and equipment for use. Perform general lab management, and responsible for laboratory upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment, maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment including chemicals, biological materials, biological wastes, etc. Catalog and label laboratory samples. Help with maintaining and organizing inventory of samples and metadata, and with managing inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents. Maintain detailed laboratory records of experiments and their results. Operate and communicate effectively in a group, team-oriented working environment. Work with and support others in a collegial, open, respectful, and interactive working manner. Work collaboratively with others in the lab to generate data for publications. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or a related field is required. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of two (2) years' experience working in a molecular biological laboratory is required. Experience with cell culture, including primary human cells, eg peripheral blood mononuclear cells and isolated lymphocytes, and cell lines; preparation of culture media; cell sorting; cell transfection and transduction. Experience with molecular biological techniques, including but not limited to buffer preparation; DNA/RNA isolation and quantification; primer/probe design; PCR; RT-PCR; qPCR; and gel electrophoresis, imaging and purification. Experience with sequencing and primary sequence analysis (ie, BioEdit and/or MEGA). Experience with molecular, cellular, viral, and immune assays is a plus, including DNA cloning, western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunochemistry, and viral stock preparation and titration. Experience with MS Word, Excel, Access, and GraphPad Prism. Experience with computer programing is a plus. Medical Science & Computing is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
