Our client is a caterer that services events in the greater Baltimore and Washington, DC area. They currently have an opening for a Chef. Responsibilities Include: * Discussing special groups or unique situations with coworkers * Supervising coworkers in regards to performance food quality * Training or delegating another culinarian to prep the day's special * Ensuring all stations are properly set up before production begins * Helping out any station in the kitchen when it is deemed necessary * Staffing and scheduling to meet departmental responsibilities * Ensuring all coworkers are properly trained to perform assigned job tasks * Maintaining positive employee relations at all times * Implementing and maintaining control procedures to reduce waste in the kitchen * Ensuring the daily dish-up service and tables side service is coordinated and performed properly and according to BEO (banquet event order) specifications * Ensuring the quality of all food produced in the kitchen meets and exceeds the high quality standards set by client * Ensuring the kitchen area is properly broken down by checking all equipment, storage areas, and work spaces General Culinary Responsibilities include: * Constantly ensuring and maintaining work area in a clean, neat manner * Ensuring sanitation standards are being maintained according to local, state, and federal laws * Ensuring understanding and correct usage of all equipment in area of responsibility * Always conducting self in a professional manner in all guest and employee contact -At least 2 years experience in related food service environments required -Prior catering experience required -Kitchen/staff management experience required -Ability to work a flexible schedule -Strong leadership, communication, team mentality, and organizational skills -Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds -At least 2 years experience in related food service environments required -Prior catering experience required -Kitchen/staff management experience required -Ability to work a flexible schedule -Strong leadership, communication, team mentality, and organizational skills -Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds
