Position Summary and Responsibilities Teledyne is now looking for an Engineer to lead the design and development of a custom power system for a unique application. The desired candidate should have above average CAD skills and the ability to create solid models of components and assemblies. Experience should demonstrate innovative mechanical design and custom product development experience with systems similar to the Teledyne Energy portfolio (fuel cells, thermoelectric generators, and heat engines). Hands-on experience with structural analysis is also required. Integrated CAD/CAE is a plus. Successful candidate will work with a team of development engineers and technicians to build and test system prototypes. Work Description: Perform engineering design, development and analysis for advanced power system technology. This will include working with the design team for the detailed designs and the analysis team for design evaluation and optimization. Support on site and off site machining and fabrication of prototype designs. Manage structural analysis tools and integration with CAD. Perform basic structural analyses of designs created with CAD modeling tool. Support ASME certification of pressure vessels Assume leadership role in individual design projects. Support validation and qualification of components and system prototypes. Interface with customers, write papers, and prepare proposals. Must be able to travel, expected to be less than 10% Qualifications Qualifications: Required: BS in Engineering (mechanical preferred) with 5 years of relevant experience. Experience in CAD solid modeling. Experience in structural analysis: static and dynamic Experience in custom product development (one-off or low volume), including design, prototyping, fabrication, and validation of the products or components. Experience in a project based engineering environment for the design and development of novel systems. Excellent communication skills, encompassing direct customer interaction, report writing and presentation skills. Self-motivated and good problem solving skills Takes ownership of work product and personally invests in the effort to produce high quality results Desired (considered, but not required): MS in an engineering discipline. Experience in manufacturing, including machining, welding, and other fabrication techniques. Experience in integrated CAD/CAE, performing CAE based thermal and stress analysis. Experience in one or more of the following power conversion technologies; thermoelectric or Stirling energy conversion, PEM fuel cell, small combustion systems or similar energy storage and power conversion technologies.
