Our client, located in Rockville, MD office has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Licensed Architect. The Sr. Architect hired will specialize in the planning, design, and construction of complex facilities and infrastructures. With a heavy concentration in healthcare facilities, laboratories, and high security installations, this person will play an integral role in helping or clients achieve their mission objectives. Our client works with governments to design, build and manage real property by combining facilities operations management, engineering, and architecture all under one roof. The Senior Architect will be expected to work independently to assist clients through the planning and creation of projects that are rooted in a deep understanding of their needs, is fiscally responsible, and represents design excellence. They will demonstrate strong familiarity of the design process from inception through close-out, including healthcare planning, code and regulatory requirements, contract documentation, estimates and building codes. They will lead the studio successfully through the design process, managing workflow and production activities, while ensuring client satisfaction with the process and product. They will assist in business development activities, nurturing existing client accounts and seeking to grow our client base through building new relationships and project pursuits. They will be expected to have a strong foundation of project management skills, but also an understanding that management of the design process requires hands on problem solving, a growth mindset, a willingness to be inclusive of all perspectives, and the ability to see challenges as opportunities, not problems. Daily Duties and Responsibilities: - Possess a strong passion for and a proven track record of successful healthcare design - Lead/play an active role in the design, production, and quality assurance of all studio projects - Lead/play an active role at all charettes/production meetings; evaluate the quality of design and design activities and assure a high level of design quality - Engage staff in dialog on design, ensure design process is followed and influence usage of technological tools - Perform site visits to verify that the work complies with contract requirements as well as federal/national, state, and local codes and standards - Oversee and participate in production of design award/competition submissions - Interface with clients, partners/subcontractors, staff and firm leadership as required - Assist in identification, recruiting, and interviewing of design staff at all levels - Identify and direct project photography, written descriptions, and other media in support of building the firm's portfolio - Support Business Development activities, including marketing proposals, interview, conference attendance, etc. - Prepare and submit reports and presentations as requested by the client or firm leadership Requirements and Qualifications: - Must be a US Citizen - Possess a minimum of 7 years of healthcare architecture design experience in commercial or federal sectors - Possess a strong design portfolio demonstrating design excellence and applicable work - Ability to empathize strongly with healthcare clients and comprehend problems from their point of view in order to develop solutions that best serve their needs - Strong working knowledge of the codes and standards that regulate the design of the healthcare environment, including but not limited to the International Building Code, Joint - - Commission, NFPA, and FGI Guidelines - Understand the distinct differences between Design/Build versus Design/Bid/Build - Review design and construction submittals, stamp/seal bid documents, troubleshoot systems, and assist project managers and quality assurance personnel - Possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with an ability to present clear and technically sound architectural strategies - Possesses knowledge of basic firm financial metrics related to project management - Proactive management style - MUST have Proficiency in AUTOCAD and Revit - Experience in Specs Intact or Master Specs - Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Ability and willingness to travel domestically/internationally up to 30% - Bachelor of Architecture or BSAE required - Must have Architectural Registration and NCARB certification; must be able to acquire registration reciprocity in additional states when required - Understanding of/certification in Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Design - Ability to earn a Top-Secret clearance or an active Public Trust or Secret clearance with an ability - LEED certification strongly desired Requirements and Qualifications: - Must be a US Citizen - Possess a minimum of 7 years of healthcare architecture design experience in commercial or federal sectors - Possess a strong design portfolio demonstrating design excellence and applicable work - Ability to empathize strongly with healthcare clients and comprehend problems from their point of view in order to develop solutions that best serve their needs - Strong working knowledge of the codes and standards that regulate the design of the healthcare environment, including but not limited to the International Building Code, Joint - - Commission, NFPA, and FGI Guidelines - Understand the distinct differences between Design/Build versus Design/Bid/Build - Review design and construction submittals, stamp/seal bid documents, troubleshoot systems, and assist project managers and quality assurance personnel - Possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with an ability to present clear and technically sound architectural strategies - Possesses knowledge of basic firm financial metrics related to project management - Proactive management style - MUST have Proficiency in AUTOCAD and Revit - Experience in Specs Intact or Master Specs - Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Ability and willingness to travel domestically/internationally up to 30% - Bachelor of Architecture or BSAE required - Must have Architectural Registration and NCARB certification; must be able to acquire registration reciprocity in additional states when required - Understanding of/certification in Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Design - Ability to earn a Top-Secret clearance or an active Public Trust or Secret clearance with an ability - LEED certification strongly desired
