A private year-round school located in the beautiful and bustling urban environment of Baltimore, MD is seeking to hire an AMS or AMI Accredited Primary Montessori Candidate as an Assistant Teacher to join our organization. Together with the lead teacher, this individual will plan and present age appropriate activities and Montessori lessons for children. Responsibilities include but is not limited to: Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth Implements Montessori curriculum utilizing individual, small group, and whole class lessons . Understands and implements the Montessori Theory and Philosophy . Assists students with daily Montessori and other relevant classroom work and activities . Designs and creates a classroom environment suitable for the ages of the students . Evaluates and adapts the classroom environment and materials to the needs of the students . Completes progress reports and conducts scheduled parent/teacher conferences twice a year . Maintains student records and attendance in compliance with school and state regulations . Maintains a clean and orderly classroom environment . Models and implements positive classroom leadership and management in accordance with State and School regulations Attends school functions Have a count of children in the classroom and on the playground at all times Treat each child with dignity and respect . Maintains a professional relationship with parents . Completes the yearly State Required 12 Hours of Professional Development and Continued Training . Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in working with staff, parents and children Qualifications: Previous experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields Passionate about working with children Positive, compassionate and patient demeanor A bachelor's degree or 120 semester hours of approved college credit OR A bachelor's degree equivalence as determined by an independent agency authorized to evaluate foreign credentials Additional Requirements Candidate must hold a credentialed Montessori Certificate (AMS or AMI) for the Primary Classroom (ages 3 - 6 years)
