Position Description Overview Fiserv is seeking a Senior Business Architect with demonstrated experience aligning business and technology at the foundational level. This position is a critical one within the leadership of a large-scale implementation and operations of a payments/card services solution for the federal government. The Business Architect will have responsibility for governance structure, business processes, and business information and the development of specific artifacts such as business capability maps and value streams to bridge the gap between strategy and execution using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques. This role will apply a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the critical view of the project. Job Responsibilities Interprets and contextualizes strategy for operational needs, develops specific artifacts such as business requirements documents, business capability maps and value streams to help bridge the gap between strategy and execution, and helps streamline and rationalize the IT enablement process Develop a business architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations Capture the relationships among roles, capabilities and business units, the decomposition of those business units into subunits, and the internal or external management of those units. Describe the primary business functions of the enterprise and distinguish between customer-facing, supplier-related, business execution and business management functions. Define the set of strategic, core and support processes that transcend functional and organizational boundaries; identify and describe external entities such as customers, suppliers, and external systems that interact with the business; and describe which people, resources, and controls are involved in the processes. Define the data shared across the enterprise and the relationships between those data. Capture the relationships among roles, capabilities and business units, the decomposition of those business units into subunits, and the internal or external management of those groups. Drives and facilitates the right discussions with business leaders to identify business capabilities in relation to current and future business objectives Create and maintain business capability, data, process and technology inventories. Work with multiple capability and functional teams to gather and document the structure of the business and technology landscape. Lead, build, manage, enhance business capability model along maturity / optimization framework to drive enablement of the longer-term roadmap Partner in the strategic planning process by providing input to the scope definition of strategic initiatives leveraging capabilities, creating capability Heatmaps to provide visibility to impacts, dependencies, overlaps and opportunities. Key Deliverables include (but not limited to): Capability Model, Capability Heatmaps, Capability Maturity Assessments, Capability Impact Assessments, Capability Health Assessments & Capability Roadmaps Provides leadership guidance, makes recommendations and collaborates with business to ensure solutions meets the business needs (requirements traceability) on a large-scale, complex program in a matrixed environment, spanning multiple geographic locations and product, business, and technical verticals/business segments Works closely with solution/technical architects to deliver business architecture artifacts needed for End to End Architecture & Solution Architecture Approach deliverables Presents recommendations and solutions clearly and concisely and is able to focus on key points to portray the intended message or purpose Advocates and drives adoption of "best practices" to ensure standardization of business architecture outputs across the enterprise Engages stakeholders to take action; Serves as a source of expert advice, influences change; frames information in a broader organizational context Provides leadership guidance, makes recommendations and collaborates with business to ensure solutions meets the business needs on a complex project or program Synthesizes the work of others drawing from disciplines such as strategy development, business analysis, process management, operations, and systems analysis Collaborates with various other specialists (ie Business Owners, Process and business analysts, IT and solution architects, Data and Information Architects) to achieve the enterprise objectives to define metrics and measurement, governance, and project management and delivery alignment Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience Extensive experience working with large stakeholder groups including the senior level of the organization (directors, VPs, C level) and client, applying strong communication and relationship management capabilities to drive outcomes, influence other and resolve conflict Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance The ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues Experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business The ability to act as liaison conveying information needs of the business to IT and data constraints to the business; applies equal conveyance regarding business strategy and IT strategy, business processes and work flow automation, business initiatives and IT initiatives, and benefit realization and service delivery 7+ years of functional experience analyzing complex problems and providing solutions; plus data and statistical analysis, planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives and applying architectural principles to business solutions Extensive experience using model-based representations that can be adjusted as required to collect, aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information about the business Ability to visualize and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture Demonstrated experience recognizing structural issues within organization, functional interdependencies and cross-silo redundancies Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques The ability to act as a liaison convening information needs of the business to IT and data constraints to the business; applies equal conveyance regarding business strategy and IT strategy, business process and workflow automation, business initiatives and IT initiatives, and benefits realization and service delivery Ability to apply advance level analysis of the big picture while maintaining an appropriate level of detail Ability to work with the highest level of abstraction, complexity, and ambiguity within the organization Competencies Organizational Savvy & Politics Flexibility and Adaptability Effective Communications Accuracy / Attention to Detail Navigating Ambiguity Strategic Planning Requirements Analysis Process Modeling Learn more about Fiserv: Life moves fast.
