ESS is responsible for the sustainment of DoD's existing ESS architecture and training program (Host Based Security System, HBSS) along with leading innovation for the modernization of the architecture. ESS also provides direct field support to the US Army Cyberspace Operations along with the US Marine Corps Cyber Operations. We are searching for an experienced and motivated Cybersecurity Technical Lead and Manager to lead our Security Engineering and Architecture team in Fort Meade, MD. This role spans many aspects of cybersecurity engineering including leading the identification, analysis, test and evaluation of endpoint security products to include vendor developed and cloud hosted. Responsibilities: Oversee all design and deployment aspects of a current and modernizing large scale enterprise cyber security stack Set the vision by integrating multiple endpoint capabilities to establish a comprehensive computer defense posture Lead the Security Engineering and Architecture effort by providing technical vision and project management fundamentals Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Work closely with the other organizations and multiple vendors to ensure comprehensive training, documentation, technical integration prior to deployment once architecture and engineering tasks are complete Work closely with other organizations to ensure cyber capabilities and solutions meet defined requirements and adhere to established polices Develop complex solutions to business problems or customer engagements through in-depth analysis, coordination and negotiation with key decision makers Support the development of cybersecurity technical roadmaps and documentation to drive cyber transformation and improvements Collaborate using information and knowledge sharing networks and professional relationships to achieve common goals Be a cybersecurity leader, and provide mentorship for less experienced engineers Advise and council program leadership on principles, practices, and technologies and their practical application Maintain good communications between engineering, test and evaluation and operations teams and leadership Influence a broad spectrum of stakeholders toward achieving business goals Ensure security policies and best practices are followed Regularly interacts with senior leadership and customers Required Qualifications: Active DoD Secret clearance Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification Bachelor's Degree WITH 5+ years of experience relevant to Information Technology and Cybersecurity Demonstrated previous leadership experience Strong understanding of cybersecurity and project management fundamentals Familiarity with common cybersecurity COTS tools and their application in a large enterprise environment Demonstrated knowledge of common information security management frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001, ITIL, COBIT and NIST Experience applying threat and data modeling, advanced data correlation, and statistical analysis to define intelligent metrics that measure an enterprise defense posture and cybersecurity effectiveness Experience managing a technical infrastructure team responsible for complex infrastructure projects with a focus on endpoint security related technologies Maintains full accountability for all people-management activities for subordinate staff and responsible for establishing goals and objectives for the department Ability to assess and determine priorities within defined constraints Ability to write and verbally communicate information security and risk-related concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills and demonstrate the ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations Desired Qualifications: Active Top Secret clearance Prior expertise with formal test and evaluation methodology Prior expertise with endpoint security technologies, threat analysis, and threat reporting metrics Prior management of diverse, remote teams Prior SOC, SIEM experience Prior expertise with network intrusion detection technologies, threat analysis, and threat hunting methodologies. Expertise on how attackers would penetrate organizations. Prior expertise with vulnerability assessments.
