Duties & Responsibilities Medical Science & Computing is searching for a Laboratory Technician to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with MSC and it is on-site in Bethesda, Maryland. Assist with the daily operations in Imaging, Cell Sorting and Flow Cytometry (ICSFC) core facility. Responsible for daily instrument maintenance and optimization, general laboratory organization and hands-on user support for both flow cytometry data acquisition and analysis and cell sorting. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: overseeing the daily activities of the Core including providing calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and any requested research assistance on all flow cytometry equipment. Provide operator-assisted cell sorting with a BD cell sorter, acquisition and analysis of multi-color FACS samples in flow cytometers. Maintain the inventory of flow cytometry reagents including titrating and aliquoting antibodies and characterizing new reagents; order supplies and assist with the general organization of the ICSFC. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline Minimum 3 years of directly related experience. Research background in flow cytometry including thorough knowledge of the operation and troubleshooting of flow cytometer is required. Experience using specialized analysis software (FlowJo, CellQuest, DiVa as well as Microsoft Office products is required. Familiarity with BD Sorters (FACSAria) and analyzers (LSR-II or Fortessa X-20) is preferred. Medical Science & Computing is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
