Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems JOB DESCRIPTION: The systems engineer will be responsible for helping manage a program of projects by working with project leads, helping to define requirements, as well as manage and track projects to completion. The Systems Engineer is expected to understand project lifecycle methodologies, help introduce best practices, and transform lessons learned into process improvements. Experience producing strong technical documentation, organization, and communication skills is a large part of the role. The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and management teams is required. They must be comfortable working independently with little to no supervision and be committed to helping create and foster a collaborative and transparent organization. System Engineers may be called upon to create slide packages and documents that communicate key concepts or technical capabilities in a clear, easy to understand manner. The majority of projects will involve software development or DevOps related activities. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience. 5-8 years of related systems engineering experience Experience executing Project Lifecycle methodologies, particularly Agile Experience with Project Management, to include topics like requirements elicitation, task definition, scheduling, prioritization, and task dependencies. Understand Configuration Management and how to evaluate and apply CM best practices in an organization Strong Technical writing and communication skills Familiar with technical tools like JIRA and SharePoint for managing projects Proficient in Excel , MS Project, and MS PowerPoint DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Masters Degree in Systems Engineering PMP certification Experience applying PMBOK (PM Body of Knowledge) processes to projects or programs Strong understanding of process improvement and the importance of taxonomy Prior experience with managing and defining processes for a major phase of the project lifecycle. Familiarity with modern tools, standards, processes and languages commonly used by software engineering and IT admins KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Working with team/project leads to assist in organizing and tracking a portfolio of projects Identifying gaps and recommending improvements for project/program management Developing and drafting project plans to execute new projects Providing support to technical teams by reviewing/drafting slide decks or technical documents.
