What You Will Do: Charge Primary Nurse - Operating Room Full-Time - Day Shift Two 8hrs shifts and two12hrs shifts, Weekdays Glen Burnie, Maryland The Charge Nurse is a professional leader who is responsible for direct and indirect patient care in combination with education/staff development functions, as well as designated management functions to promote high quality, cost-effective health care. Under minimal supervision, the charge nurse is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for the patients and staff through guidance and supporting of his/her team. The charge nurse interprets and assists primary RN with performing complex patient-care procedures, specific to their area of expertise. Charge Nurse is a member of the Care Team that is accountable to function as a leader to accomplish an optimal outcome for the patients, staff, and organization. When assigned to Primary RN Role: Under limited supervision, the RN is responsible for the assessment of patients, including the development, evaluation and modification of the Plan of Care. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures, specific to their area of expertise. RN's are members of the Care Team and Support Team, and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the Pathway/Plan of Care. All RNs are professional caregivers whom assume responsibility and accountability for care, given to a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team member, according to established standards. Patients served, includes all age groups (infant through Older Adult as identified in Performance Standards). Watch our video: What You Need to Be Successful: Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing, or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Maryland. Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland. Successful completion of a refresher course, given by UM BWMC, or approved by the Board of Nursing within the past six months, if nursing practice has not occurred within the past five years. The Charge Nurse's role, also includes having BSN, Bachelor's degree in another field, or specialty certification preferred, and at least one year bedside nursing experience, maintains a position with a FTE of 0.6 or above, good attendance, good communication skills, flexibility with schedule, and able to demonstrate being accountable.
