Director, New Student Transition Services Posted Date: Oct 11, 2019 Job Category: Staff Department: New Student Transition Svcs - HNST Position Status: Full-Time Staff Salary Range: $72,542-$90,678 Position Summary: The Director of New Student Transition Services is responsible for the design, development and implementation of a comprehensive student transitions plan which includes communications, outreach and services that will move students through the enrollment process from applicant to matriculated student. The director is responsible for providing supervision and leadership to the office including fiscal management, planning, staff supervision, and staff evaluation and operations management. The director is responsible for developing events that facilitate and foster community relationships to ensure students successful transition to Anne Arundel Community College. The director must work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, staff and community partners to manage the details and logistics of transition programs. The director reports to the Dean of College Transitions, and the Vice President for Learner Support Services. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Oversight of day-to-day operations, including hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating personnel. The staff will consist of a new student transitions specialist, one full-time contractual specialist and student workers. Plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate communications and enrollment transition initiatives. Develop a comprehensive new student transition plan to move applicants to matriculated students. Develop methods to assess new students' needs and interest in cooperation with the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Development. Participate in staff development opportunities to learn best practices for transitioning applicants to matriculated students. Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive orientation experiences (online and in-person sessions) with a variety of campus partners, student and community stakeholders. Develop a process for student assessment of the orientation program that is both qualitative and quantitative to determine if learning outcomes are met. Assist with implementation and oversight of a comprehensive five week FYE Summer Bridge program that will include academic support in English and mathematics, soft skills training, introduction to support services and strategies for success. Develop programming that supports opportunities for student engagement with faculty, staff and other students. Develop a student assessment process to evaluate the effectiveness of programming, and outreach initiatives. Design programs and outreach initiatives to inform individuals, community groups and agencies about new student enrollment process and transition services. Required Qualifications: Master's degree or higher Minimum of five years of related experience Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills, including problem solving and conflict resolution. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with faculty staff, students, parents and the public. Ability to work flexible hours in a variety of locations primarily in Anne Arundel County and throughout the state. Demonstrated ability to represent the college to business, professional and academic groups and agencies. Experience working computerized systems for students and databases. Demonstrated ability and experience to supervise employees.
