GDIT has an exciting opportunity available for a Mechanical Engineer, Associate maintaining Tactical/Commercial generators and HVAC systems in Afghanistan. Successful applicant must have a current and active US Government issued SECRET clearance. This position requires travel to outlying sites, work in austere environments, and working close with the customers. Also, there is a $12,000 bonus provided at the end of a successful one-year deployment. Mechanical Engineer, Associate: Performs maintenance and sustainment on 2-kw to 1000-kw generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and rebuilds engines, alternate current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories. Responsible for maintaining all types of power commercial generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS). Rebuilds and repairs generator engines, head gaskets, seals, water pumps, fuel pumps, torque heads, belts and hoses. Test batteries, fuel and coolant. Knowledgeable of generator parallel systems Experienced using multimeters and other necessary tools for troubleshooting. Additional skills needed but not required: Knowledge and experience in HVAC, Chiller, diagnostic, troubleshoot and Repair of Environmental Control Units, to Include Bard Systems Certification in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) QUALIFICATIONS: QUALIFICATIONS: BS or equivalent + 2 years' generator/HVAC repair experience, or an AA/AS plus 4 years' experience.
