A preschool in Montgomery County (Mid County) is searching for a motivated self-starter to fulfill the role of Director of Education. A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, and management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool are required . Candidates must have strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and have a good understanding of child development and early childhood education. Our ideal Director of Education is someone who is: Passionate about early childhood education and children Knowledgeable about child development, early childhood curriculum and MSDE standards and guidelines Highly organized with good follow through skills A self starter and detail oriented A strong leader who inspires others Personable, enthusiastic and creates strong relationships with families and staff A team player and multi-tasker Innovative and creative when it comes to programming, classrooms and activities Positive and upbeat attitude while working in a fast-paced environment The Director's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Overseeing preschool operations including human resources, health and safety, and facility operations. Developing strong relationships with our families Managing a budget, licensing and accreditation Implementing and maintaining policies, procedures and record keeping that meet MSDE guidelines Managing curriculum and lesson planning Hiring, training, coaching and mentoring staff Ensuring programming meets requirements, is age appropriate, developmentally appropriate and keeps students moving forward in their learning Researching and recommending new ideas to keep program evolving Managing and planning special events, open houses and parent conferences Keeping abreast of research and development in the field of early childhood development Reviewing student portfolios regularly Consistently spending time in the classrooms for training, support and program improvement Assisting with enrollment We offer: Competitive Compensation Benefits Professional Development State-of-the-Art Facility Affiliation with Leaders in the Childcare Field Education : A Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development and management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool or A Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field, including 18 semester hours of completed coursework, including 12 hours of completed coursework related to young children birth to age 8, and management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool Other Requirements: Must be qualified as a Director as mandated by MSDE OCC Management experience Experience teaching preschool aged children General Qualifications The Director must meet the qualifications of his/her state and those set forth in the National Standards for Hiring (see www.bls.gov ), including the following: Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid Ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet, with or without corrective devices; this includes the ability to evacuate the building during emergencies Ability to handle crisis situations, especially where children are involved Ability to respond immediately to emergency situations
