George Mason University, Department of Geography and Geoinformation Science (GGS) in the College of Science invites highly qualified candidates to apply for our Geographic Information Science - GIScience faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This full-time, tenure-track position is scheduled to begin in August 2020. Responsibilities: We are seeking outstanding candidates with expertise in Geographic Information Science who will complement existing research efforts and teaching offerings at our department. We welcome applications from researchers working in any part of geographic information science, but we especially encourage candidates with expertise in geovisualization, geospatial analysis and machine learning, geointelligence, and cloud computing to apply.

The selected candidate will develop an externally funded research portfolio that will advance the mission of GGS, advise graduate students at both the master's and Ph.D. levels, provide core support to our successful and growing programs in Geography and Geoinformation Science; teach core and advanced courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels (the equivalent of two courses per semester) and develop new courses as needed in areas of specialization.

The incumbent will also be encouraged to participate in an in-depth university orientation and the structured, three-semester faculty mentorship program where you will collaborate with incoming TT peers and existing faculty mentors across departments and colleges. Required Qualifications: * Successful completion of a Ph.D. in geography, geoinformatics, or a closely related field before the start of the appointment; * The ability to develop a strong and active research agenda in GIScience and a field of specialization; * A demonstrated record of publishing peer-reviewed scholarship; * The ability to teach courses in GIScience and a field of specialization.

Preferred Qualifications: * A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and potential of seeking/securing external research grants.
