Summary

This is a Student Internship opportunity under the Pathways Internship Program with the Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction (CSWMD) located at the National Defense University. The Internship Program provides manager a ready source of student employees and potential permanent employees upon completion of the program requirements. It also provides the student with work experience directly related to their curriculum study or career goals.

Responsibilities

-Using varied and advanced functions of processing software to produce a wide range of documents and to perform miscellaneous clerical support.
-Performing basic research tasks for selected faculty and/or senior staff at the National Defense University.
-Collecting and assisting in the gathering of information and data to be used by faculty and staff in the development and preparation of publications or presentations.
-Conducting archival research and current literature to provide written or oral synopses of the information available.

  • Must be enrolled at a qualifying educational institution at least half time

  • Background or Security Investigation: The individual selected for this position is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security determination to occupy a critical sensitive position within the agency as a condition of employment.


Qualifications

GS-5:
You must have one year specialized experience which is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position specialized experience is defined as performing variety of support functions using standardized procedures that require application and understanding of administrative and management support concepts, policies, principles, and regulations.

You must also have completed 4 academic years (120 hours) of post-high school study leading to a bachelor's or equivalent degree.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
