To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following :initial inspection of small weapons to determine repairs needed ;disassemble, repair and replace components on small arms; final inspection to ensure repairs were completed correctly; use of hand tools, precision gauges and measuring instruments; perform weapon operational tests; provide training; prepare reports;
- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Responsibilities
- Repair small weapons by replacing obsolete parts and/or assemblies.
- Inspect Small arms to determine serviceability and conditions of repairs necessary.
- Disassemble weapons to diagnose malfunctions.
- Analyze unit deficiencies to determine required organizational training.
- Suggest corrective actions in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Observe rules and regulations to ensure all safety and physical security standards are followed.
- Use hand tools to make repairs and adjustments.
- Utilize measuring instruments to determine when parts are worn or damaged.
- List repairs on appropriate forms to indicate needed repairs.
- Prepare reports on recurring equipment failures.
- Document inventory to maintain accountability of weapons.
- Performs two level Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) to include periodic gauging.
- Conduct operational checks and final inspections to ensure maintenance has been completed.
