The Director of Fleet is responsible for the strategic management, planning and oversight of the gategroup U. S. fleet. This comprehensive responsibility includes strategic and tactical management of approximately 1,000 vehicles, including 800 catering trucks positioned at 34 locations across the U. S. and represents an asset fiduciary responsibility of over $200M. This position manages new fleet purchases, including the replacement strategy aligned with the business plan, as well as all maintenance, repairs and refurbishments of the current fleet, including internal maintenance staff oversight and tracking as well as third-party vendor management, while also ensuring compliance with local, state and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role manages fleet allocation and tracks current and trending regulations regarding vehicles.Main Duties and Responsibilities:Strategic management, planning and oversight of the US FleetManages the fleet budget, strategic plan, asset registry/database, maintenance records and compliance records for all vehicles, ensuring minimum down timeOversees approximately 1000 catering and support vehicles for over 34 units in the US Manages, coordinates and communicates with local facility management, as well as third-party suppliers, regarding capital programs and vehicle issuesEvaluates, certifies, qualifies and manages third-party contractorsActs as the Business Lead in support of Procurement reviewing and negotiating contractor or vendor proposals, contracts and purchase ordersEvaluates, manages and oversees large repairs, benchmarking costs against industry standardsResearches and develops a strategy to meet regulatory requirements across the USResponsible for reviewing, budgeting and financial reporting for fleet maintenancePerforms fleet audits and vendor contract adherence as requestedCoordinates with Business Unit Leaders and Finance on capital budget projections and ongoing maintenance budget management for all vehicles.Prepares budgets and formal requests for funding; working with Finance, Procurement, and unit management to evaluate new products and vehicle needsSupports the Regional Director in planning and evaluation of Capital Expenses, following budget guidelinesEvaluates the need for contracted services, develops scopes of work and specifications, and coordinates with the Procurement department in negotiating annual vehicle vendor service contractsEnsures state and federal regulatory requirements (including fleet related DOT) are met and reviewed regularly for complianceReviews and approves the Accounts Payable process for prescribed large repairs as directedKeeps the Operations group involved and informed on progress and deviations to planPerforms cost audits to highlight opportunities for savings and supports implementation of savings initiativesQualificationsEducation:College or University degree in Business Administration in Project Management or related field requiredWork Experience:7+ years of experience in Fleet Management or related field requiredJob Skills:Experienced in use of all Microsoft Office applications with in specific: Word, Excel and MS-ProjectsUnderstand and/or have the ability to learn the design and operation of vehiclesVendor management skills preferredDemonstrate teamwork (display a willingness to work with and assist other employees)Demonstrate initiative (contribute new ideas, be self-motivated, obtain and maintain a good working knowledge of the Company)Experienced in Project Management and the ability to create and monitor progress of fleet projects across the USDemonstrate flexibility (able to adjust to changes in job requirements and scheduling and willingness to absorb additional responsibilities and adjust priorities as necessary)Exhibit dependability (maintain schedules, adhere to commitments, and respect working hours and corporate expectations, exhibit sound judgment in all situations)Adhere to strict confidentiality standardsTechnical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)N/ALanguage / Communication Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Communicate effectively (ability to clearly express ideas and opinions using appropriate and effective communication methods; deal with employees and vendors openly and honestly, being receptive and attentive to communication and feedback from employees and clients)Job DimensionsType of Employment: Full TimeTravel %: This position requires the ability to travel to widespread domestic locations to 40%- 80% of the timeExemption Classification: ExemptWork Environment / Requirements of the Job: Normal office environment, Unit activities inside and outside, based on needsgategroup Competencies Required to be Successful in the Job:Thinking - Information Search and analysis & problem resolution skillsEngaging - Understanding others, Team Leadership and Developing PeopleInspiring - Influencing and building relationships, Motivating and Inspiring, Communicating effectivelyAchieving - Delivering business results under pressure, Championing Performance Improvement and Customer FocusDemonstrated Values to be Successful in the PositionEmployees at gategroup are expected to live our Values of Excellence, Integrity, Passion and Accountability.
