Steptoe, an Am100 law firm located in the heart of Dupont Circle has an amazing opportunity to lead its legal recruiting and professional development team. The Director of Legal Recruiting & Professional Development, based in DC, is highly visible role which involves interface with firm leadership including the Executive Committee, Chairs and Co-Chairs of Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Hiring Committee(s) Professional Development and Training Committees, and administrative department/office leaders. The position will carry out the firm's strategic initiatives with a heavy emphasis on attorney professional development and training. The role requires a highly organized, innovative, engaged leader with strong client service orientation, diplomacy, excellent written/verbal communication skills along with ability to manage in a collaborative environment. This position is also responsible for the following: . Oversight of attracting and retaining talented and diverse lawyers. Includes recruiting law school and lateral hires at all levels, onboarding, integration and alumni relations.. Oversight of the development, execution, and reporting on Diversity & Inclusion initiatives to advance the firm's commitment to the overall program.. Manage and oversee attorney training and development, continuing legal education (CLE), mentoring, program curriculums and other related functions.. Oversight of performance management system and career progression for Associates, Counsel, Contract Attorneys and other professionals. . Lead department operations to include policy definition, budget, innovative workflow process, project management, metrics, and market awareness.Qualified candidates will possess the following:. Bachelor's degree is required. JD or advanced degree is preferred.. A minimum of 10 years of legal administration is required.. A minimum of 5 years of attorney professional development/recruiting experience is required.. Proven track record of effectively leading a team of exempt and non-exempt staff.Keys to Success in this role:. Comprehensive knowledge of attorney professional development, core competencies, adult learning concepts, program design and attorney career progression.. Knowledge and understanding of current attorney recruiting trends in the Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Washington, DC markets..
