Job Description PV Pros is seeking an experienced engineer/technician to provide our field services including commissioning, QC inspections, construction monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairs. The candidate shall possess a wide range of experience and understanding in the design, installation, operation, maintenance, & repair of commercial and utility scale solar PV & energy storage systems. This position offers tremendous opportunity for growth and advancement as the business expands. Primary Responsibilities Independent Engineering Conduct visual inspections for workmanship, code compliance, and best practices. Construction monitoring site visits, reporting on QC issues and overall progress of construction vs schedule. Commissioning & re-commissioning - visual inspections plus testing/measurements of equipment performance. Inspecting systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with codes. Test AC & DC electrical circuits in equipment, switch gear, distribution panels, disconnects, inverters, etc., using testing devices such as infrared thermal cameras, IV curve tracers, multimeters, etc. Conduct the on-site activities of technical due diligence for projects our clients look to acquire. Assist in determining the financial impact on performance or cost to remedy. Review drawings for code compliance and best practices. Create reports of finding with photos, descriptions, severity, and recommendations. Work with the installers/contractors to ensure they understand the problems and solutions to the issues you identified. Operation & Maintenance Troubleshoot and repair equipment & components. Install, configure, and maintain monitoring systems and weather station equipment. Generate material take-offs for office staff to provide quotes for corrective repairs. Identify underperforming/functional issues with the equipment. Ensure the service vehicle, tooling, electronics, software, and company property issued are accounted for and taken care of. Complete daily field service reports. Attend continuing education training. Work safely and in accordance with OSHA. Support the ongoing development and improvement of the Service team. Secondary Responsibilities (Opportunities to add value beyond your day to day responsibilities) Safety Plan - Assist in the development of the company's safety policies, particularly how-to safety work on electrical equipment and use testing equipment in accordance with OSHA. Procedures & Standardization - Work with office and field staff to standardize procedures for solving issues encountered in the field. Develop and maintain a centralize knowledge base the technicians and engineers can use for best practices and to troubleshoot issues.
