Job Announcement

As part of the Department of Code Compliance Complaint Intake and Case Documentation team, provides administrative and technical support to the department. Operates the departmental call center to provide customer service to citizens with code questions or complaint inquiries. Uses technical knowledge of the property maintenance, zoning, fire, building, blight, noise, grass, and other codes or ordinances enforced by the department. Handles citizen concerns in-person and by phone contact regarding case updates and technical code questions. Maintains working knowledge of criminal and civil prosecution procedures, to ensure correspondence with the County Attorney's Office and litigation information are properly documented and maintained in the departmental database or to answer inquiries about such cases. Prepares responses to FOIA requests and redacts protected information as prescribed by state law. Maintains Code Compliance investigative records by following the Library of Virginia records retention and disposition schedule. Conducts administrative processes to include updating databases, statistical tracking, and maintaining service citations for all departmental correspondence and documents. Aids with complaint processing and case documentation and utilizes multiple information systems.

Note: This recruitment may be used to fill multiple positions. The salary offer for the position will not exceed the mid-point of the advertised salary range. The assigned functional areas of this position are customer service, records management, and purchasing.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and three years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to multitask. Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to work independently while handling multiple tasks and requests simultaneously. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities. Strong attention to detail. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software, especially Word and Excel. Must be capable of managing various matters on different priority levels. Demonstrated ability to be a team player. Must be capable of communicating, assisting and acting so as to promote agency efficiency. Fluent in Spanish and English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position is generally sedentary in nature: ability to operate a computer system. Must be able to communicate articulately in person and on the phone and work long periods as a desk. Ability to lift/carry up to 15 pounds. Ability to stand in order to do filing, copying, scanning, receipt and storage of office supplies. Ability to reach and bend in order to retrieve files from filing system. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
