Summary

The position is located in the Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information, Intelligence and Information System Division, Intelligence Systems Support Branch in Washington, DC.

Serves as a technical liaison between OSII and Office of Science and Technology to provide technical advice and consulting.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, designs, and implements new and improved information systems and the maintenance of current systems to meet investigative and intelligence requirements.
  • Serves as an integrated technology specialist responsible for the development, analysis, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of all software applications.
  • Coordinates technical problems and issues related to hardware and software.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining existing programs, policies and procedures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of the system and data.
  • Designs, acquires, modifies, evaluates documents and using software intended to ensure automated systems are secure from unauthorized use, viral infection, and other problems that would compromise confidentiality, privacy of data or other aspects.
  • Serves as a Technical Liaison by providing technical advice.
  • Advises the Division and Branch Chief on long range strategies regarding the expanded use and enhancements of systems.
  • Evaluates new software technologies to assess its applicability for Division requirements and recommending the acquisition and practices to management.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement - Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

  • Oral Communication ‐ Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving ‐ Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

  • In addition to meeting basic requirement must have at least one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience for the position is defined as experience developing, implementing and maintaining information technology systems, policies, and procedures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems; designing, acquiring, modifying, evaluating, and using software to ensure that automated systems are secure, demonstrated experience with one or more of Java, JavaScript, C#, SQL, Soap WSDL, .Net, Python, ArcGIS, and PowerShell.

    This position is processed under a Direct Hire authority; therefore, veteran's preference and Category Rating procedures do not apply.
