Summary

This position is located in the Operations and Administration Division, within the Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) and reports to the Operations and Administration Manager in Linthicum, Maryland.

Responsibilities

As an Operations Support Specialist you will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Examining request documents for propriety of accounting data, to include accounting classifications, job orders, etc., and ascertains the availability of funds for certification purposes.
  • Transmitting billing documents related to reimbursable programs to servicing finance and accounting offices for payment.
  • Assisting and implements CDSE security and safety policies to include, but not limited to, physical and information security, badges, safety procedures for CDSE personnel, students, and visitors, and building front desk support as needed.
  • Facilitating procedures to ensure that CDSE Operations and Administration functions are carried out as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, and will typically be demonstrated by working at, or immediately below the level of the job being advertised, for a year or more. The previous work experience must clearly demonstrate the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience required for this position is: Applying sound knowledge of a variety of administrative functions, principles, theories, concepts, practices, and techniques to independently accomplish recurring assignments. Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies relating to budgeting, accounting, travel, transportation, procurement, contracting, and other related administrative operations. Operating specified computer equipment, including use of internet research techniques and software, as well as designated word processing and database software packages.

DCSA, as a newly designated Defense Agency is undergoing a multi-year transformation that includes a significant expansion of predecessor agencies' authorities and responsibilities. Mission accretion and associated growth in personnel and resources requires deliberate coordination and planning across operations and support activities to achieve effective outcomes while simultaneously establishing and integrating new activities, initiatives and projects. The new organization will be comprised of nearly 13,000 government and contractor personnel operation throughout the United States and overseas supporting stakeholders across the federal government.
